General Genetics Clinic
Our General Genetics Clinic is available to patients who have a possible genetic syndrome. This clinic includes a geneticist and genetic counselors and is provided at two locations, MMI and Children’s Hospital. We are happy to see both pediatric and adult patients in many of our clinics.
Patients who are appropriate for referral to this general clinic are those with:
- A suspected genetic disorder or syndrome
- Abnormal genetic test results (i.e. chromosome analysis, microarray or another specific genetic test)
- Autism
- Developmental delay and/or intellectual disability
- Multiple congenital anomalies
- Multiple family members with the same genetic condition

Adult Genetics Clinic
Our dedicated Adult Genetics Clinic provides genetic evaluation and counseling for adult patients with a variety of inherited conditions. Individuals with a known diagnosis, a suspected diagnosis, or a family history of an inherited disorder may be referred for evaluation, genetic counseling and further diagnostic testing. Patients are seen at MMI Diagnostic Clinic.
Patients who are appropriate for referral to this adult clinic are those with:
- Connective tissue disorders (e.g., Marfan syndrome)
- Family history of a genetic condition other than cancer
- Family history of young cardiac deaths or cardiovascular events or known cardiac diseases such as cardiomyopathies or arrhythmias
- Neuromuscular disorders (e.g., Muscular dystrophies or Myotonic dystrophies)
- Skeletal dysplasias
