The Nebraska Title V program recently completed their five year needs assessment as required. The MMI UCEDD staff chaired the group representing Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs (CYSHCN). The CYSHCN group was composed of many families that have children with special health care needs, professionals, including staff from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and faculty and staff from MMI.
The priorities for the CYSHCN workgroup included:
- adequate health insurance;
- families who partner in decision-making within the medical home;
- mental health;
- transition; and
- unmet family needs/support.
