Professional Summary
Sarah Burke, MS, CGC is a licensed and certified genetic counselor in the Department of Genetic Medicine at the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute. Sarah graduated with high honors with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 2017 and went on to complete her Master of Science degree in 2020 at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Science. Her graduate training in genetic counseling included education in both medical genetics and psychosocial training to support families through complex molecular testing and diagnoses. Previously, Sarah was employed at an NCI cancer center in Florida providing genetic counseling for both children and adults with suspected hereditary cancer syndromes. In her current role, Sarah enjoys meeting children and adults for a wide variety of genetic indications, including neurodevelopmental disorders and congenital anomalies. She is particularly excited to help implement a new Ophthalmic Genetics service at the local Children’s hospital. Sarah finds her passion in the resilience, hope and advocacy of families in their genetics journey.
