The College of Dentistry serves as part of the dental safety net for the State of Nebraska. Our outreach activities allow our students, faculty and staff to provide oral health care services and education to underserved populations across the state.
Outreach Programs for Children
UNMC Children's Dental Day ProgramStudents, staff and faculty provide free dental care to underserved children in Nebraska. Since 2001, over 6,000 children have been treated and over $3 million in free dental services have been provided. |
UNMC Sealant ProgramStudents and faculty provide free preventative dental care services, including dental sealants and fluoride varnish, to underserved children in Nebraska. Since 2002, over 26,000 children have received preventative services. |
UNMC Teledentistry ProgramPediatric dental residents and faculty utilize telehealth to serve as a resource for school health professionals serving at-risk children in Omaha and Lincoln public schools. |
Outreach Programs for Adults
UNMC SHARING Clinic ProgramStudents, faculty and staff provide free dental care to underserved adults in Nebraska. Since 2008, over 2,500 patients have been treated, and there have been over 5,000 volunteers, including students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. |
Partnership with Clinic with a HeartDental students and faculty volunteer 800+ hours each year at the Clinic with a Heart Extraction Clinic where they provide urgent dental care to the underserved, and dental hygiene students and faculty provide preventative services. |
Partnership with People's City MissionDental students volunteer 300+ hours each year at the People's City Mission Dental Clinic where they provide urgent dental care to the underserved. We are grateful for this partnership that allows us to help the underserved in our community and offer students meaningful experiences. |
