SHARING Clinics (Student Health Alliance Reaching Indigent Needy Groups) are a UNMC outreach program dedicated to serving the health care needs of underserved populations in Nebraska. Dental SHARING Clinics provide patients with essential dental care delivered by student providers. The program offers students valuable hands-on experience beyond their regular coursework while allowing them to serve the community.
Many SHARING Clinic cases involve complex dental emergencies, including pain, swelling, and fever. Primary procedures performed include cleanings, extractions, restorations, and referrals for root canal therapy.
Since 2008:
- 38 Dental SHARING Clinics have been held
- Over 2,500 patients have been treated
- Over 5,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members have participated
The Dental SHARING Clinic program is made possible through generous financial support from Ameritas Insurance Company, Delta Dental of Nebraska, dental alumni, and friends of the college.
