Server Purchase & Deployment

RITO provides technical assistance on Server Purchase & Deployment. Each party will be responsible for tasks described as below during this process. If interested, please reach out to rito@unmc.edu to set up an initial consultation.

Requestor's Responsibility RITO's Responsibility

Make a request via rito@unmc.edu for server purchase

 
Provide written use case of the purpose of server  
  Propose suitable configuration
  Get quote from the vendor

Submit project for ITS approval

 

 

Facilitate ITS Approval

Approve quote and place order with vendor

 

Order (2) SFP+ optics modules per 10 Gbps network connection (unless using 1 Gbps)

 

Order operating system or third-party software licenses, if needed

 

 

Receive ordered hardware and software

 

Install hardware in data center

 

Install/configure/secure/test operating system and other software

 

Setup a periodic backup of server configuration data and other user data (required)

 

Perform periodic system updates and routine system maintenance (required)

 

Ongoing application support application for Requestor's users (optional, for additional fees)

 

Perform periodic application updates and routine application maintenance (optional, for additional fees)
