Updated January 2024
Details:
- The UNMC College of Dentistry DOES NOT follow UNL’s weather closure decisions. We make closure and late start decisions separate from UNL.
- If the College of Dentisty is closing or having a late start, all employees and students will receive an email by 6:00 a.m. If you do not receive an email by 6:00 a.m., we will be open.
- Closure and late start information will also be posted on social media (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter) and on our website.
- In the event of inclement weather, the College of Dentistry maintains learning/teaching continuity as scheduled and when possible.
If the building in Lincoln is closed:
- There will be no in-person classes, labs or events.
- Classes will be remote, and lab classes may shift to didactic instruction to allow for more lab time later. Faculty, you need to communicate your plans to your students.
- The clinic is closed and all patient appointments will be rescheduled.
- Employees should work remotely if their position/supervisor allows remote work, or they must take time off.
- Employees with job responsibilities that cannot be performed remotely will be paid for the inclement weather period based on their regular pay/scheduled shift.
Students on extramural rotations should contact their site preceptor to review their office closure plans and the need for travel.
When the building is open, but travel may be hazardous:
Your safety is our priority. If your commute may be unsafe, please stay home and let your supervisor / instructor / students know. Requests for excused absences for exams / assessments need to be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs.
