Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP)
The Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) is designed to address the special needs of rural Nebraska by encouraging rural residents to pursue a career in the health care fields.
- Pre-dental and pre-dental hygiene students who are selected must complete their pre-professional studies at Chadron State College, Peru State College or Wayne State College.
- Participants receive a full tuition scholarship for coursework at Chadron State College, Peru State College or Wayne State College.
- Participants are guaranteed admission to the UNMC College of Dentistry upon satisfactory completion of all requirements within the prescribed timeline.
- Dental students - Upon satisfactory completion of a four-year undergraduate program, students are guaranteed admission gain acceptance into the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska.
- Dental hygiene students - Upon satisfactory completion of a two-year program, students gain acceptance into the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska or the West Division in Gering, Nebraska.
Students from rural communities who will plan to practice in rural areas of Nebraska are eligible to apply. Students may apply to the RHOP program at the same time they apply for admission to the state college. Nontraditional students who are willing to begin their undergraduate work as freshmen regardless of previous education are also encouraged to apply.

Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP)
The Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP) is a cooperative program between UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). The purpose of the program is to recruit and educate students from rural Nebraska who are committed to returning to rural Nebraska to practice healthcare.
- Pre-dental and pre-dental hygiene students who are selected must complete their pre-professional studies at UNK.
- Participants receive a full tuition scholarship for coursework at UNK.
- Participants follow a special curriculum and participate in professional development activities at UNK that will prepare them for their UNMC program.
- Participants are guaranteed admission to the UNMC College of Dentistry upon satisfactory completion of all requirements within the prescribed timeline.
- Dental students - Upon satisfactory completion of a four-year undergraduate program, students gain acceptance into the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska.
- Dental hygiene students - Upon satisfactory completion of a two-year program, students gain acceptance into the UNMC College of Dentistry West Division in Gering, Nebraska.
Students from rural communities who will plan to practice in rural areas of Nebraska are eligible to apply.
