Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP)
The UNMC College of Dentistry participates in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) to help strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.
The program allows aspiring dental students to experience what it's like to be a dental student, learn about applying to dental school, and network with dental students and faculty.
SHPEP dental scholars learn about:
- Dentistry careers and dental school admissions.
- The neurophysiology of learning and preparing to succeed.
- Oral health topics, including: inflammation and disease, the nervous system and cranial nerve testing, and digital dentistry.
