Presenter: Caroline Hoffman, MPH

Caroline Hoffman, MPH, has worked in the health communications field for over 10 years. She is currently the Environmental Health Communications Manager at the Rhode Island Department of Health. Her work focuses on helping subject matter experts create and disseminate meaningful communications materials with actionable calls-to-action. She started her career working at public relations agencies in New York City, specializing in communicating FDA approvals and clinical trial data, building patient engagement programs, and in health crisis and issues preparedness.

During this time, Caroline learned how to translate complex medicine, science, and data into meaningful information for the public and was introduced to the field of public health. Caroline completed her Master of Public Health at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health Department of Environmental Health Sciences in 2021. During her education, Caroline gained a greater understanding of data analysis and interpretation, building her data storytelling skills. At RIDOH, Caroline works with many programs and centers, including the Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, the Climate Change and Health Program, and the lead poisoning prevention programs.
