To understand fork rescue in real-time, a novel super-resolution microscope was developed. The system is based on structured illumination. Studies using this system illuminated sub-cellular localization of SSB-GFP and how localization changes in response to DNA damage. Studies will focus on increasing the imaging speed of the system so that real-time, super-resolution imaging can be realized. Work is done in collaboration with Lei Ming (Xi’an Jiatong University, Xi’an China) and Kwangsung Oh (University of Nebraska, Omaha).
