Legislation and Policy Resources

The University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities provide crucial guidance to federal, state, and local policymakers on empowering individuals with developmental and other disabilities.

Their advice aims to foster self-determination, independence, productivity, and community integration. This support is vital for helping individuals with disabilities and their families and caregivers thrive.

Disability rights are human rights. And all people have the right to be included in their community and live a full life with access to public spaces, housing, education and employment.

Our Commitment to Nebraskans

Nebraska's UCEDD at the Munroe-Meyer Institute serves as an informational resource to state and federal policymakers. We accomplish this in collaboration with three other organizations.

The center routinely provides expert information to state and federal policymakers on decisions and activities impacting individuals with disabilities and their families. One area of critical activity has been the relationship between the center and the Nebraska Unicameral to provide information and testimony concerning disability issues to the Nebraska Legislature.
