Rural Opportunities
Nebraska Neighbor
The UNMC College of Nursing is offering a new scholarship program, the Nebraska Neighbors: UNMC Nursing Rural Advantage Scholarship. This is available to nursing students entering the UNMC BSN Traditional or Accelerated programs from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, or Wyoming who plan to attend our Kearney, Norfolk, or Scottsbluff campuses.
The scholarship will reduce the net cost of out-of-state tuition to resident tuition rates. Students do not need to apply for this scholarship as it is automatically applied upon acceptance into the program.
Rural Pathway
Our nursing Rural Pathway program is available for students meeting the outlined criteria who are attending one of the following 4-yr institutions:

Chadron State College – Guaranteed Seat at College of Nursing-Scottsbluff
Nursing Degree - Chadron State College

University of Nebraska Kearney - Guaranteed Seat at College of Nursing-Kearney

Wayne State College - Guaranteed Seat at College of Nursing-Norfolk
This selective BSN program guarantees admission to nursing school, serves increased demand, and helps meet the state's workforce needs.
Rural Pathway Criteria –
- Minimum 3.3 GPA in all prerequisite courses
- No grades below a C
- Must have met with nursing advisor/coordinator each semester prior to matriculation into the program
- Active CNA certification before beginning at UNMC
- Students applying from UNK must have at least one semester of coursework completed before applying
