Student Research Projects

Students lead cutting-edge research projects with guidance from our faculty.

Completing a research project is a requirement for third-year dental students and dental hygiene students.

Postgraduate residents also complete research projects for their residency programs or to complete their master's degrees.

Through these projects, students and residents gain insight into how they can help shape the future the oral health. Research topics range from clinical and basic sciences to educational research.

Ameritas Nebraska Dental Student Research Group

Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Ameritas Nebraska Dental Student Research Group to receive assistance with completing in-depth research projects, including funding and personal mentoring from faculty.

Many of the students who participate in this program have gone on to enroll in residency and graduate programs.

This program is supported by Ameritas, the UNMC Dental Classes of 1993-1997, and other generous donors.
