About the Wigton Heritage Center
The Wigton Heritage Center offers stunning views of the original façade of University Tower, sculptures in the main entrance area and William H. Northwall, M.D. Plaza, and other campus buildings. The facility includes meeting and reception space for events; open collaboration, meeting and seating space; and exhibits that pertain to the history of UNMC and the health professions in Nebraska.
The Wigton Heritage Center project features three buildings on the UNMC campus: the new Wigton Heritage Center and the existing structures of Wittson Hall and University Tower, both adjacent to the Wigton Heritage Center. The Wigton Heritage Center building project began with the renovation of Wittson Hall in 2019. The groundbreaking for the new Wigton Heritage Center took place in the summer of 2019, with construction completed in June 2021.
