Join hosts Steven Wengel, MD, assistant vice chancellor for wellness at UNMC, and Metropolitan Community College’s Brian O’Malley Associate Dean, Culinary, Hospitality and Horticulture for “Keep Calm and Soup On."

These "Keep Calm and Soup On" virtual cooking demonstrations were held via Zoom for the UNMC Community during December 2023 through February 2024.

"What we eat matters, and this project is intended to provide healthy cooking lessons that are practical for busy people and pleasing to the palate," said Steven Wengel, M.D., assistant vice chancellor for wellness at UNMC.

The 90-minute presentations also include nutritional information and a live question-and-answer session.

Nutritional highlights are provided by Mariah Jackson, Assistant Professor, Medical Nutrition Program, and Kimmie Sharp and Rebecca Beaudoin, Nutrition Therapists  Nebraska Medicine.

Dr. Wengel said he hopes attendees find cooking to be a way to reduce stress while providing sustenance for those close to them.

This event is a joint effort of UNMC Human Resources; UNMC's wellness program and medical nutrition staff; and Metropolitan Community College's Institute for the Culinary Arts' Open Kitchen. UNMC shares names of all attendees with MCC for auditing purposes.
