Mentoring

The Mary and Dick Holland Regenerative Medicine Program offers diverse mentoring opportunities that foster collaboration, innovation, and professional development across all career stages. Our commitment to mentorship creates a dynamic environment where knowledge is shared and future leaders in regenerative medicine can thrive.

Mentoring of Junior Faculty

Our program comprises nearly 40 investigators across UNMC and UNL campuses making daily impacts in regenerative medicine. These researchers and physicians represent multiple departments with diverse expertise, techniques, and methods, all united by a common goal: providing hope where once there was none. Our award-winning scientists span all academic ranks and research phases—from developmental biology fundamentals to clinical applications. We actively foster mentorship partnerships to support junior faculty development. Our collaborative grant program strategically pairs junior and senior faculty, leveraging complementary strengths to enhance research outcomes.

Summer Regenerative Medicine Research Program

Our summer program provides UNL engineering undergraduate students with immersive research experiences in regenerative medicine. Participants join research teams and gain first-hand exposure to cutting-edge work in the field. These full-time positions place students in active laboratories where they contribute to ongoing research projects under faculty mentorship. Students also attend weekly seminars delivered by researchers to enhance their understanding of scientific methodology and current UNMC research initiatives. These laboratory experiences significantly improve students' competitiveness for future graduate programs and medical school admissions.
