G. Matthew Longo, MD, FACS

Dr. Longo received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1996 and completed his residency in general surgery at UNMC in 2003. He completed a two-year fellowship in vascular surgery in 2005 from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. He is board certified in both general and vascular surgery.

Dr. Longo was named chief of vascular surgery at UNMC in February 2011. He served as fellowship program director from 2015 to 2020. In addition to his UNMC appointments, he is a clinical instructor of vascular surgery at Creighton University and an attending surgeon at the Nebraska/Western Iowa VA Medical Center.

He is a member of several hospital committees and professional societies. He has been a contributing author of many publications, book chapters and abstracts. As a principal investigator, Dr. Longo has received numerous grants for his research. He has been a review section consultant for the Journal of Vascular Surgery Distinguished since 2007 and an ad hoc reviewer for BioMed Central Medical Research Methodology since 2011.
