Student Health Clinic - Omaha

The UNMC Student Health Clinic provides high-quality routine health care for our students to help them gain the best possible experience while attending UNMC, including providing immunizations and annual screenings.

Quality Health Services for UNMC Omaha Students

  • Serious Medicine. Extraordinary Care. Care is provided by Nebraska Medicine at a clinic located in the Student Life Center, Level 2 on the UNMC Omaha campus. Meet our staff.
  • Call 402-559-7204 to Schedule an Appointment. Students must call to schedule an appointment before being seen in the clinic during our care hours. Walk-in appointments are not available. Telehealth appointments are also available. Appointments can be made by phone Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you call outside these hours when the Student Health Clinic is not open, the call center will have you speak to a health care professional regarding your illness or injury.
  • Covered Services. Students who pay Fund B can receive covered services in the clinic at no extra charge. Other services may be available for a fee. 
  • Insurance Friendly. All students are required to show proof of insurance for health care services not covered by Fund B. The clinic works with the UNMC Student Health Insurance and most insurance companies to provide convenient billing.

24-hour service is available by calling 402-559-7204, and you will be able to speak to a health care professional.

Appointments can be made by phone Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Be sure to let the scheduler know you are a student when you call. Students will be seen in the clinic by one of our providers. Telehealth visits are also available. 

If you call when the Student Health Clinic is not open, the call center will have you speak to a health care professional regarding your illness or injury.

First-Time Patients
If you are a first-time patient, please make your appointment by calling the scheduling center at 402-559-7204. Any type of appointment may be scheduled by calling the scheduling desk.

Established Patients
If you are an established patient of the UNMC Student Health Clinic, you may call the clinic at 402-559-7204 to schedule an appointment. You may also make an appointment online.

Cost of Care

Patients are financially responsible for charges not covered by Fund B, and we aim to be as transparent as possible about cost of services.

  • For billing questions, please call Patient Financial Services at 402-559-3140.
  • For questions regarding the UNMC Student Health Insurance, please call Student Health Administration at 402-559-5158.

Covered Services, Labs, and Tests

The following services, labs and tests are covered by Fund B when performed at the Student Health Clinic only. Services, labs and tests done at other locations and for labs/tests not on the following list will result in out-of-pocket fees.

The following list of non-covered services is not all-encompassing. Non-covered services include, but are not limited to, the following:

These services are not provided in the Student Health Clinic and are not covered by Fund B.

  • Dentistry
  • Prescription drugs are not covered by Fund B but may be covered by your insurance policy
  • Allergy testing/extracts
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Cosmetic treatment (Including Acne)/Surgery
  • Hospitalization/Inpatient care
  • Oncological treatment
  • Psychiatry services (contact Counseling and Psychological Services for a required referral)
  • Ancillary or Diagnostic testing: Charges for ancillary or diagnostic testing will be submitted to the student's Major Medical insurance carrier
  • Rehabilitation, prosthetics, orthotics, braces, crutches
  • Sleep studies, vascular studies, bone age studies
  • Complete EKG
  • Emergency services/ICC Visits (UHCSR Student Insurance holders contact Student Health Administration via email at studenthealth@unmc.edu within 48 hours for a referral)

The UNMC Student Health Clinic offers convenient telehealth appointments with Dr. David Harnisch. Dr. Harnisch is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with over 30 years of experience. Known for his compassionate, patient-centered care, he provides accessible healthcare support for a variety of conditions. 

What conditions can be seen through telehealth?

Common conditions treated through telehealth include earaches, nausea, congestion, fever, allergies, and minor cuts and burns. Antibiotics can also be prescribed via telehealth. For a full list of conditions, visit this page.
