Emergency Care
Emergency Care
If you have a medical emergency or are experiencing severe symptoms, you should report to the nearest emergency room.It is recommended that you have proof of insurance with you at all times. All emergency room and urgent care visits will be billed to your medical insurance plan. Please contact your insurance company carrier with questions.
- If you are on the Student United Healthcare Insurance Plan and are seen in a Nebraska Medicine Emergency Room, please via email within 48 hours of release to have the copay and deductible waived (total of $800). Please note that referrals do not constitute or ensure automatic payment by the insurance company. The insurance company will pay for covered expenses only. If you are on the Student United Healthcare Insurance Plan, check their website to find in-network providers and locations.
- If you are not on the UHCSR insurance plan, please contact your insurance company carrier to inquire about coverage.
All students at UNMC are required to have medical insurance.
Other Insurance
Students who have other medical insurance should contact their insurance company carrier to inquire about benefits regarding emergency room visits. Fund B does not cover emergency room visits.
