Release date: June 6, 2016 MacaM_v7.8 represents a new annotation of the MacaM assembly (version 7). It represents a signficant improvement over the original annotation for this assembly (MacaM_v7.6.8). MacaM_v7.6.8 contained annotations for 16049 complete, unique genes. MacaM_v7.8 contains annotations for an additional 151 complete genes and 2085 partial genes for a total coverage of 18285 unique genes. All partially annotated genes have "PARTIAL" in their gene_description. Although 2085 of the genes in MacaM_v7.8 are only partially annotated, this is sufficient for Next-Gen mRNA expression analysis, in most cases. MacaM_v7.8 has been tested for Next-Gen RNA expression analysis with several datasets using TopHat 2.1.1, Cufflinks 2.2.1 and Cuffdiff 2.2.1. MacaM_v7.8 gave no errors with these programs and appeared to produce valid results. It is not recommended that MacaM_v7.8 be used for purposes other than mRNA expression analysis. For WGS or exome analysis, MacaM_v7.6.8 is still recommended. The assembly (MacaM_Chromosome_FASTA_file) and other useful files can be found at this site. MacaM_v7.8.1, released June 9, 2016 corrects formatting errors. MacaM_v7.8.2, released August 17, 2016 corrects additional formatting errors. Send comments to Rob Norgren: rnorgren@unmc.edu.
