Server Purchase & Deployment
Research IT Office provides technical assistance on Server Purchase & Deployment. Each party will be responsible for tasks described as below during this process. If interested, please contact us to set up an initial consultation.
Responsibilities
Requestor Responsibilities
- Make a request for a server purchase
- Provide written use case of the purpose of the server
- Submit project for ITS approval
- Approve quote and place order with vendor
- Order (2) SFP+ optics modules per 10 gbps network connection (unless using 1 gbps)
- Order operating system or third-party software licenses if needed
Core Responsibilities
- Propose suitable server configuration
- Get quote for a server from the vendor
- Facilitate ITS approval
- Receive ordered hardware and software
- Install hardware in data center
- Install, configure, secure, and test operating system and other software
- Set up a periodic backup of server configuration data and other user data (required)
- Perform periodic system updates and routine system maintenance (required)
- Ongoing application support for Requestor's users (optional for additional fees)
- Perform periodic application updates and routine application maintenance (optional for additional fees)
