Kyle J. Gallagher, PhD, DABR, is a medical physicist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UNMC, joining the team in 2021. He serves as director of the medical physics residency program. Previously, he served as director of outreach education, with an emphasis on global health. He continues to assist with the radiation therapy education program.
His main research interests include improving long-term outcomes for pediatric patients through advanced radiotherapy techniques (e.g., proton therapy) and radiotherapy in low- and middle-income countries.
Prior to joining UNMC, Dr. Gallagher spent four years working as a medical physicist at Oregon Health & Science University. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He completed his doctorate in medical physics at Oregon State University and OHSU, including seven months of research in Beirut, Lebanon.
