Musculoskeletal Radiology

The musculoskeletal imaging section of diagnostic radiology provides comprehensive evaluation of bones, joints and muscles utilizing a wide variety of imaging modalities including MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. All musculoskeletal radiologists are certified by the American Board of Radiology and have completed fellowships in musculoskeletal radiology. Our faculty work closely with referring colleagues in orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine, rheumatology and other clinical services to provide the highest level of service and care for our patients. 

Our faculty are directly involved in teaching within the diagnostic radiology residency program and the musculoskeletal radiology fellowship. Residents and fellows will gain experience with:

  • Muscle and tendon imaging.
  • Joint evaluation.
  • Cartilage evaluation.
  • Sports injury evaluation.
  • Rheumatologic disease Imaging.
  • Spine imaging.
  • Surgical hardware assessment.
  • Bone and soft tissue infection imaging.
  • Bone and soft tissue tumor imaging.
  • Muscle and tendon ultrasound.
  • MR and CT arthrography.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic joint injections and aspirations.
  • Imaging-guided tendon injections.

Musculoskeletal subspecialists need to be adept at recognizing the type and extent of an injury or disease process. Familiarity with problems that occur in bones, joints and muscles enables them to recognize disease and diagnose it correctly.
