Educational Research

Through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, educators can investigate the factors that facilitate or hinder student learning by identifying effective teaching strategies. This involves exploring how students learn, developing effective teaching strategies, designing assessments that accurately measure student learning, and promoting evidence-based teaching techniques. Educational research also provides opportunities for faculty members to stay updated with the latest developments and advancements in the field, expand their knowledge base, and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.

  • We provide guidance on educational research for College of Public Health faculty interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • We support the College of Public Health Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Community of Practice, which focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning and aims to promote research, innovation and best practices in education. Faculty and staff involved in teaching and learning are invited to join the community to share ideas and learn new teaching methods, engage in professional development, networking, research, grant writing and publication, leading to effective teaching practices and improved student learning.
  • We also facilitate writing circles allowing educators to collaborate and develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning through shared experiences and knowledge.

To learn more, please email Analisa McMillan.

We provide educational and instructional design and technology services for faculty and educators developing grant-funded educational content. Faculty are encouraged to work with us to create engaging learning experiences when developing and redesigning courses for their grant-funded projects. Additional technology support includes learning management systems (Canvas, Moodle), creating e-modules, and providing software, technologies, and tutorials to facilitate learning. This support is offered for a fee.

Noncredit offerings are short, focused training/workforce development opportunities that allow individuals to develop in-demand skills and experience they can immediately use without enrolling in a for-credit program at the College of Public Health.

We provide fee-for-service instructional design and technology services for faculty creating and deploying noncredit and/or grant-funded courses. Educators will work with our team to create engaging learning experiences and when developing and redesigning courses/training using best practices, educational design, and support technology development.
