What is a work study?

Federal Work Study is a type of financial aid, and is a great way for students to gain experience.

Eligibility

To be eligible, a student must:  

  • Be a U.S. resident.   
  • Demonstrate need according to their current Free Application for Federal Student Aid.   

Handshake

Handshake is UNMC’s preferred platform to find student jobs! UNMC students can utilize Handshake to browse and apply for local, national and student job opportunities, view upcoming career events, and more. 

Access Your Account

Students are automatically assigned a Handshake account upon acceptance to UNMC. Log in here using your NetID and password to complete your profile and put your best self forward to employers. For more instructions on how to access your account, please visit the Handshake support page.  

Find Student Jobs

Login to Handshake, then click on Jobs at the top. In the Jobs area, you can click on "On Campus" to filter down to all current student positions at UNMC.

  • Each position description will state whether the work can be done partly or entirely remotely. 
  • Current Handshake opportunities are regularly featured at the bottom of the COPHee Talk student newsletter.
