Additional Trainings and Certifications

Depending upon your occupational goals, a professional certification may help you.

The following are some common certifications. You can explore additional certifications, specific to your field of interest, by talking with your advisor, via informational interviews and by reviewing required and preferred qualifications in job descriptions.

Certified in Public Health

Certification Exam

As students and graduates of a college accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health, our students and alumni may sit for the Certified in Public Health exam.

Current students are eligible to take the exam, so long as they have completed or are concurrently enrolled in the graduate-level core content required for their graduate degree (biostatistics, epidemiology, health services/policy management, environmental health, social behavioral sciences). Candidates who pass the exam under this eligibility criteria will be provisionally certified until graduation. Following confirmation of their graduation, they will be Certified in Public Health.

  • Helps you stay up to date on the broad field of public health, long after you have completed your degree program.
  • Elevates the field of public health.
  • Is preferred or required for certain jobs in some geographic areas, and its prominence is expected to grow in the coming years.
