Aislinn Rookwood, PhD, MPH
Assistant Professor, Department of Health Promotion

Aislinn Rookwood, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Aislinn’s research focuses on understanding how to utilize community-driven research approaches, workforce development, and health promotion theory to reduce disparities in maternal and child health, particularly in children’s environmental health and cancer.
She serves as the Environmental Co-chair for the Nebraska Asthma Coalition and on the advisory board for Healthy Housing Omaha. She previously served as Director of Programs at CityMatCH, a national membership organization of city and county health departments' maternal and child health programs and leaders representing urban communities in the United States.
She has also served in various roles supporting the Summer Undergraduate Research Program, Summer Health Professions Education Program, and Indigenous Health And Education Resources Taskforce, where she has been instrumental in developing innovative partnerships to enhance the recruitment and retention of American Indian and Alaska Native students in health professions and/or research programs at UNMC and nationally.

Aislinn’s research focuses on utilizing community-driven or engaged research approaches, workforce development, and health promotion theory to reduce disparities in maternal and child health, particularly in children’s environmental health, and cancer.
Her work emphasizes the intersection of environmental exposure science and population health outcomes, often employing community-engaged or community-driven research methods, utilizing mixed methods or qualitative research. At the heart of this work, Aislinn’s goal is to elevate and support communities in improving health equity.
