Community Driven Training in Buffalo Management

Goal

The goal of this program is to match new bison handlers and managers with established mentors for the purposes of hands-on learning and guidance, with a focus on worker safety.

Participants

Tribal buffalo managers who have demonstrated excellence through the successful management of buffalo with minimal injury and risk to workers will be matched with mentees for the purpose of on-site, hands-on learning.

Funding

Funding will cover travel and lodging costs for mentees to learn alongside established herd managers and handlers at their facilities. An honorarium is available for mentors willing to share their knowledge.
