Capstone
Master of Public Health Capstone
The capstone is required of all Master of Public Health students. This experience is intended to contribute to the health of the community and provide students with learning and further development of public health competencies under the guidance and supervision of professionals.
The capstone is a student-directed study supervised by College of Public Health faculty. Students should meet with their faculty mentor for support in developing this experience.
Students should refer to the Capstone Experience Handbook for more information. Students should also refer to the Canvas Student Success Center for additional capstone resources, located under Academic Program Information.
Course Registration
Before enrolling in Capstone CPH 529, students must have:
- Completed at least 36 credit hours, which includes all concentration and core courses (or be concurrently enrolled).
- Formed their capstone committee.
- Received approval of their proposal from their committee.
The completed capstone approval form and the plan of study must be submitted to the director of professional programs to obtain permission to register for CPH 529. The form can be found in the Canvas Student Success Center under MPH Capstone Information.
Timeline
Students should begin preparations two semesters before the intended registration term. Students should work closely with their faculty mentor to develop the capstone project.
