Jeana Benton

Dr. Benton is a dedicated medical educator who practices adult psychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Associate Program Director for the UNMC Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Benton has a longstanding interest in medical student and resident education. She provides both didactic instruction and clinical supervision for trainees, and she has been actively involved in curriculum design and implementation at both the medical student and the resident level. Dr. Benton has been awarded multiple teaching awards for education engagement related to these endeavors and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Benton completed her medical education at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and her residency training at the Creighton-Nebraska Psychiatry Residency Program. She joined the UNMC faculty in 2011 and is currently an attending physician in the Psychiatric Emergency Services department. Her primary clinical areas of interest are mood disorders, crisis intervention, and collaborative care.
