How to Apply

Dr. Hwang talks with students

We appreciate your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Please review the following information and related links before submitting your application through ERAS.

Applicants must be registered with the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to be eligible to receive an interview. The program uses the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for its PGY-1 positions.

For the 2025 cycle, our program encourages all applicants to complete all sections previously found in the supplemental ERAS application, including the most meaningful experiences, geographic preference, and signal. Our program received an average of 544 applications for five positions in the last five cycles.

Additional information about what's new in the 2025 MyERAS Application can be found here

Only applicants registered with the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) will be considered by the program.

OUR MATCH PLEDGE

We expect 6 PGY-1 positions to start July 1, 2025, for which we will interview 60 candidates. (This is an increase over our previous year.)

We will not invite more candidates to interview than we have interview slots available.

The program will extend interview invitations starting September 27, 2024 depending on the number of applications received.

To receive a complete evaluation by the program, apply on time with all your information in ERAS (three letters of recommendation, exam scores, etc.)

Candidates requiring special consideration, including those in a couples match, can contact our program. (These situations should ideally be detailed in your personal statement and geographic preferences.) We cannot guarantee an individualized response to every inquiry.

All interviews will be virtual.

We will certify our rank list by February 1.
