Dr. Daniel Pierce is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he leads physiatric medical student education and specialty career development. He completed his intern year in internal medicine at the Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center program, followed by a PM&R residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident. He then pursued a fellowship in Quality and Patient Safety through the University of Washington at VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Dr. Pierce is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He holds clinical appointments at the Omaha VA Medical Center, Nebraska Medical Center, and Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Pierce seeks to improve healthcare delivery through health services research, healthcare quality/patient safety work, clinical informatics, and advocacy. A dedicated advocate for health policy and patient access to rehabilitation services, he serves as a delegate to the American Medical Association Young Physicians Section and is actively involved in local, state, and national organizations shaping rehabilitation medicine. His work bridges education, advocacy, and research to advance the field of PM&R.
