About Us
Established by the Board of Regents in 2004, the Center for Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine (CDDN) is a multi-institutional, multi-college, and multi-departmental research hub, recognized as the first academic nanomedicine center in the United States. CDDN addresses the urgent need to improve the delivery of therapeutic and diagnostic agents by using advanced nanoscale technologies to develop next-generation systems that maximize clinical benefits while minimizing adverse effects.
CDDN brings together a broad range of technical and scientific expertise in biomedical and materials research. The Center unifies capabilities in drug and nucleic acid delivery, polymer science and nanotechnology, gene therapy, and pharmacology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL), and Creighton University. This interdisciplinary collaboration fosters transformative advancements in therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
CDDN’s vision is to enhance health outcomes by improving the efficacy and safety of both new and existing therapeutic and diagnostic agents. Its mission is to discover, design, develop, and evaluate novel drug delivery systems and nanotechnologies, accelerating breakthroughs in treatment and disease management.
