Kiran Sapkota, PhD, MPharm

Kiran Sapkota, PhD joined the COP as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2025. Dr. Sapkota earned his PhD in Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience from UNMC in 2016, a MS in Pharmacology from Creighton University in 2012, and a Master’s of Pharmacy in Medicinal Chemistry from Catholic University of Daegu in South Korea (2009).  He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy at Pokhara University in Kaski, Nepal.  He has completed post-doctoral fellowships in Neuropharmacology at UNMC and Neuroscience at the Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Before joining the COP, he was an instructor in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at UNMC.  He brings expertise as a researcher and educator in neuropsychiatric disorders, neuropharmacology, drug discovery and pharmaceutical chemistry. His teaching interests are in the areas of Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacokinetics for pharmacy students.
