Welcome to the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center!
Founded in 1915, our College of Pharmacy has a long and proud history of excellence in pharmacy education and research. Today, we are recognized globally as one of the top institutions for training pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists. This recognition is a direct result of our unwavering commitment to education, discovery, and patient care.
At the College of Pharmacy, we are dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare. Our mission is to educate pharmacists who possess not only scientific expertise but also the clinical skills, compassion, and integrity necessary to provide exceptional patient care. We also prepare pharmaceutical scientists who are at the forefront of discovering new drugs, improving drug delivery methods, and analyzing the effectiveness and accessibility of drug therapies. Beyond that, we foster leadership, developing professionals who inspire others through their commitment to the highest standards of practice and contribute to healthcare progress on local, national, and global stages.
Our Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is ranked 19th out of 141 pharmacy schools in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report, and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). We are deeply committed to your learning experience, emphasizing not only knowledge but also practical skills and professional development. Our students graduate equipped with the tools to navigate a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, where breakthroughs in drug discovery, genomics, informatics, and clinical pharmacology are shaping the future of patient care. In fact, our graduates ranked consistently rank in the top 5 of the 141 accredited schools on the North American Pharmacy Licensure Exam (NAPLEX), a testament to the quality of our education.
In addition to our PharmD program, our graduate program in Pharmaceutical Sciences offers advanced degrees in both the Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) tracks. Our graduate students engage in cutting-edge research across a range of areas, from medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutics to drug delivery and pharmacokinetics. Graduates of this program are highly regarded and actively recruited by academia, industry, and government organizations.
Starting in 2025, we will also be offering a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS). This exciting new program will fulfill the prerequisites for our PharmD program, our graduate program, and other health profession degree programs. It will also prepare students for an entry-level career in the pharmaceutical industry
We are thrilled that you have chosen the College of Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center as the place to advance your career. Since our founding, the collective efforts of our faculty, students, staff, and alumni have kept us at the forefront of pharmacy education and research.
