Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine
The Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine introduces learners to the diagnosis and treatment of infants and children with respiratory disorders and cystic fibrosis. Faculty of the division manage the Pediatric Pulmonology Center and Nebraska Regional Cystic Fibrosis Center. Our program offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and methods supported by ongoing research. As a learner, you will gain experience with a variety of respiratory conditions, such as
- Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (a chronic lung disease of premature infants)
- Asthma
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Recurrent pneumonia
- Respiratory complications of immune system deficiencies
- Conditions which show up as chronic cough, wheezing, poor exercise tolerance and shortness of breath
- Congenital disorders, such as anatomical problems in airways or lungs
- Sleep disorders in infants and children
