Dr. Kari Neemann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at UNMC. She received a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002. She received her MD from UNMC in 2006 and completed her Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at Creighton University and Medical Center (CUMC) in 2010. She completed her Adult ID Fellowship at CUMC in 2012 and her Pediatric ID Fellowship at UNMC in 2014. She is board certified in Pediatric and Adult Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics. Dr. Neemann enjoys interacting with our learners as the Clerkship Director for the Pediatric ID Rotation. She serves as the Medical Director of the Pediatric ID Immunocompromised Service. She also serves as the Medical Advisor to the Douglas County Health Department and is a volunteer physician at the Pediatric Tuberculosis Clinic at OneWorld Community Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Her research interests include infections in the immunocompromised host and global health. She is the recipient of a Thrasher Research Fund Early Career Award to study the maternal-neonatal vertical transmission of ESBL organisms in pregnant woman in Nigeria. She is a Co-Investigator with the Nebraska Pediatric Clinical Trials Unit.
