Clinical Experience and Education
Listed below is a brief description of the curriculum of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine training program. The program is designed to provide the skills necessary to practice Pediatric Hospital Medicine in any clinical setting while also preparing fellows to practice in an academic environment. Below is a sample plan of study for our fellows; however, schedules are flexible depending on a fellow's career goals. The fellow will complete inpatient hospital months at Children's Nebraska, Newborn at Bryan & St. Elizabeth hospitals, subspecialties at Children's and UNMC, and Rehabilitation at Madonna.
UNMC Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program Description
Each fellow follows an individualized learning plan (ILP) that directs their unique educational needs.
Year One
- Inpatient at Children's Nebraska (2 months)
- Core elective (1 month)
- Research (3 months)
- Sedation/Procedure (1 month)
- Palliative care (1 month)
- Electives (4 months)
Year Two
- Inpatient at Children's Nebraska (1 month)
- Community hospitalist month (Lincoln)(1 month)
- Complex care/rehab at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital (1 month)
- Core elective (1 month)
- Research (5 months)
- Electives (3 months)
