Application Process

Thank you for your interest in our Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship.

Important Update

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we regret that we will be unable to greet you in person as our interviews will be held virtually this year.

We accept applications from ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). The following must be included with your ERAS application:
Curriculum Vitae
Personal Statement
USMLE/COMLEX Scores
Photograph
Letters of Recommendation (3) *Including one from your Program Director.

Applicants must have completed residency training in pediatrics or medicine/pediatrics from an ACGME-accredited residency training program. The fellowship director with the aid of the Fellowship Committee selects the applicants who will be offered interviews.

The following criteria must be met for acceptance into the training program:

A commitment to pursue a career in academic Pediatric GI.
Excellence in the clinical care of children.
Acceptance is granted on the basis of the applicant’s potential to become a successful academic subspecialist.

Applications will be accepted from June-August and interviews will be held from August-November if selected. If you are selected for an interview please work with the fellowship coordinator to promptly get your interview scheduled.

Foreign Medical Graduates

The Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition division at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center does accept applications from foreign medical graduates through ERAS.

We do sponsor a J-1 visa.

Applicants must have graduated from an ACGME accredited Pediatric Residency in the past five years. ECFMG certification is required to be ranked. In order to be ranked you must have passing USMLE board scores as well as be board eligible in pediatrics.
