  • Effective Huddles and Debriefs: The webinar Effective Huddles and Debriefs: How to Facilitate Learning at the Frontline created by the UNMC CAPTURE Falls Team describes best practices for leading and participating in post-fall huddles and debriefs. Printable handout
  • Post-Fall Huddle Educational Videos: The UNMC CAPTURE Falls team created two videos that may be helpful as an educational resource for staff training on post-fall huddles:
    • “Good” Post-Fall Huddle: The video Good Example of a Post-Fall Huddle provides an example of an ideal post-fall huddle.
      • Video Discussion Guide: This video discussion guide document, created by the UNMC CAPTURE Falls team, accompanies the “Good” Post-Fall Huddle video posted above. It includes time stamps for respective sections within the video to prompt discussion in a small group setting with a focus on facilitator and staff behaviors.
    • “Bad” Post-Fall Huddle: The video Bad Example of a Post-Fall Huddle provides an example of an ineffective post-fall huddle.

It includes foundational content about post-fall huddles, and content that can be adapted to align with your organization’s policies and procedures for post-fall huddles. (link will be added soon)
    Customizable Post-Fall Huddle Knowledge Assessment:
    This document, created by the UNMC CAPTURE Falls team, includes multiple choice questions that can be used to evaluate staff knowledge of key post-fall huddle concepts. Responses to some items can be adapted to align with your organization’s policies and procedures about post-fall huddles.
  • Human Behavior and Fall Risk Reduction: Your post-fall huddle may indicate challenges among staff in following policies and evidence-based practices. The Human Behavior and Fall Risk Reduction Handout, created by the UNMC CAPTURE Falls team can be used to help you identify common reasons for why staff may struggle to change behavior and implement evidence-based practices.
  • Post-Fall Huddle Case Studies: Two case studies, created by the UNMC CAPTURE Falls team and based on fall events submitted by hospitals in the CAPTURE Falls collaborative, provide an opportunity for staff to review and practice clinical decision making about the factors that contributed to a patient fall and actions that need to be taken to reduce that patient’s risk of another fall.
