Research Tissue Bank

Among the most valuable resources to our investigators is human tissue for use in basic science, translational, and clinical studies, and clinical trials.

The Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology is committed to furthering the research of all UNMC investigators and assisting faculty in accessing the material they need. Listed below are the requirements and departmental personnel to facilitate requests for tissue from UNMC tissue banks and the clinical archives for various purposes.

For Basic Science and Translational Research

Fresh and Frozen Tissues

Obtained at the time of surgery.

Facility: Pathology department or frozen section laboratory

Requirements:

1. Approved IRB protocol of study
2. Contact Technical Staff
3. Clearance by Dr. Swanson
4. Coordination with Dr. Ly's staff

2. Collaborate with a UNMC Pathologist on study

1. Completion of clinical trials request form
2. Approved IRB protocol of study
3. Contact Technical Staff
4. Meeting with pathology staff prior to procedure(s) to coordinate logistics
5. Clearance by Dr. Swanson
