Workshop

Our center holds an annual workshop: The Essentials of Staphylococcal Genetics and Metabolism.

The workshop, supported with funds from the UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology, presents participants with an advanced understanding of the genetic and metabolic techniques commonly used by the staphylococcal research community. These techniques include bacterial cell culture and interpretation of metabolite analysis, transduction, allelic replacement methodologies and use of the Nebraska Transposon Mutant Library.

The 2024 workshop was held July 14-19, featuring  presentations by principal investigators whose careers reflect various aspects of staphylococcal biology, including virulence factor production, regulatory mechanisms, metabolism, biofilm development, and host/pathogen interactions.
