Associate Professor, UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology
Director, Clinical Molecular Bioinformatics, Division of Diagnostic Molecular Pathology and Human Genetics
Weiwei Zhang, PhD, is an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology.
Dr. Zhang has participated in a great number of hematological malignancies projects and published a portfolio of high quality, peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Zhang is also a contributor to bioinformatics-related education and clinical practice for professional organizations and working groups.
Her work focues on large-scale genomic data including design and implementation of bioinformatics pipelines in NGS testing, improve the efficiency of data processing and analsyis, and promoted bioinformatics methodologies into clincial practice. Her goal is to enhance clinical implementation of genomic testing and ultimately devoted to better patient care.

I have been working on improving molecular diagnosis and the identification of genetic abnormality in lymphoid neoplasms using high throughput sequencing since 2011. The major focus of my research is to understand the pathogenesis of lymphoid malignancies and subsequently translate these findings into clinical application. I provide bioinformatics support for multiple NIH projects focusing on hematological malignancies and other funded projects on solid tumors.
