Director, UNMC Tissue Science Facility
Dinesh Pradhan, MD, is an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He also serves as director of the UNMC Tissue Science Facility.
Dr. Pradhan is an active member of multiple national and international pathology and dermatopathology societies. He serves as an Abstract Review Board member of the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology and American Society of Dermatopathology, as a Pathology Electronic Reporting Committee member of College of American Pathology and secretary and executive committee member of the Association of Indian Pathologists in North America. He serves as an inspection team leader for College of American Pathology inspections and served a residents forum delegate. He also served as an ambassador for the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology.
Dr. Pradhan's research aims to identify molecular biomarkers of skin cancers, particularly melanomas and skin lymphomas. His work on skin lesions and cancer biology has resulted in more than 70 refereed journal publications, three book chapters and more than 80 poster/platform presentations at national and international conferences. He serves on the editorial board of several journals, including Translational Oncology and Diagnostic Pathology, and as an ad hoc reviewer for more than 20 journals.

My research interests comprise cutaneous tumors with emphasis on molecular biomarkers of melanomas and skin lymphomas. In melanoma, I have focused on acral melanoma for which we described the two epigenetically distinct subtypes of acral melanomas, the metastatic potential of IFITM1 and SIK3 genes, and the therapeutic potential of TYK2 inhibitors. We also showed that HPV associated vulvar squamous cell carcinomas have better response and outcome when treated with neoadjuvant and adjuvant radiotherapy. I have presented my research in several national and international conferences and have served as Inspection team leader for College of American Pathologists inspections, Residents Forum Delegate, and Ambassador. Currently, I am serving as an editorial board member of several journals including Translational Oncology and Diagnostic Pathology.
