Mrs. Niedfelt was born October 29, 1907 in rural Hall county to Otto and Alvina Stoile Kruse. Her family moved to Grand Island during Mrs. Niedfelt’s early childhood where she received her education. After graduating from the Grand Island High School in 1926, she married John Niedfelt on June 6, 1928. Mr. and Mrs. Niedfelt managed farms and the Platte Valley Construction Company. Her husband, John, died July 23, 1979 and Mrs. Niedfelt died on September 21, 1984. Mrs. Niedfelt was an active member of her church and a member of numerous community groups. She bequeathed $610,000 to UNMC’s nursing program through the University of Nebraska Foundation.
