General Disclosure

The US Department of Education requires the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing to provide professional licensure information to students regarding academic programs that lead to a professional license or certification that is required for employment. Professional licensure/certification requirements vary from state to state, which may affect a student’s ability to apply for a professional license/certification upon the completion of the program.

Notes:

  1. Graduates must apply for state RN licensure first or have a compact state license if it is a compact state
  2. Graduates can apply directly with eNLC RN license
  3. Graduates must show verification of a specific number of hours of clinical practice as an RN
  4. Graduates must have collaboration agreement in place
  5. Requirements related to criminal background check
  6. Program must meet the licensing state's educational requirements
  7. Program must have acceptable Pharmacology, Pathophysiology and/or Health Assessment course credits
  8. Graduates must pass a jurisprudence examination for APN prescribers
  9. Program must show evidence of preceptorship if not reflected on transcript, i.e. as clinical or practicum
  10. Graduate must show evidence of APRN practice hours or graduating from APRN program within a specified period of time
  11. Graduate needs to complete specific number of hours of state required coursework, e.g., state specific HIV education, infection control, child abuse reporting
  12. Program must complete verification documents
  13. Graduates may be required to show evidence of CE hours

Some states have additional applications for prescribing privileges, some of those have collaboration agreements tied to the prescribing privileges. You need to check your specific state for those regulations.
