UNMC study uses technology to improve fitness in rural men

Activity trackers, text messaging, self-monitoring app provide help to 12 study participants

Chris Johnson, of Bloomfield, Neb., was one of 12 rural northeast Nebraska men who took part in a recent UNMC pilot study to test the feasibility and acceptability of the use of health-related text messages and an activity monitor with its companion app to self-monitor eating and activity.
