NU Regents to hear UNMC educational vision for the next century

A new building devoted to educational programs and the renovation of three existing buildings are the key recommendations of a 12-member task force that has been studying UNMC’s educational needs for the 21st century.

The group’s recommendations will be presented to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents today during the regents’ annual visit to the UNMC campus. No action will be taken today. The project will be formally presented to the board later this year for possible approval.

UNMC begins study on new drug for potential treatment of acute myeloid leukemia

UNMC researchers have begun the first clinical study in the United States to examine the safety and effectiveness of a unique new drug that may have potential in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). AML, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, is the most common type of acute leukemia in adults, with an estimated 10,000 new cases a year.

Changes to simplify publication of online newsletter

UNMC Today has met its first goal of the year: to slim down its publication process. Posted earlier in the day, the 2-year-old online employee newsletter will continue to carry a full scope of stories, announcements, news-related links and other campus information. In recent weeks, the e-mail notice sent to UNMC faculty and staff each day has been condensed to primarily include news headlines and links to other sections in the UNMC Intranet.
