Outside firm to assist with UNMC employee satisfaction survey

Employees soon will be asked to complete a confidential survey that looks at UNMC’s working environment. UNMC has retained Career Design, Inc., to assist with its 2002 employee satisfaction survey. The 29-question survey will provide UNMC with baseline data on the attitudes employees have about UNMC. See story for more details.

Dr. Spurzem named medical director of the NHS Adult Intensive Care Units

John Spurzem, M.D., professor in the department of internal medicine, section of pulmonary & critical care medicine, has been named medical director of the Adult Intensive Care Units for NHS University and NHS Clarkson hospitals. He succeeds Joe Sisson, M.D., who will continue to serve as professor and chief of the pulmonary & critical care medicine section.

UNMC names new research center in honor of Charles Durham

In recognition of his generous gift, UNMC has named its newest research building in honor of Omaha philanthropist Charles Durham.

The announcement was made Wednesday during a ceremony in the facility that will bear the Durham name. The facility — formerly the Research Center of Excellence — will now be called the Durham Research Center. The adjoining plaza area – 45th Street from Emile Street to Dewey Avenue and Dewey Avenue from 45th Street to 44th Street — also was named the Durham Research Plaza.
